Job Description

Join the SpEd Forms team as part of a fast-paced software development business. SpEd Forms is used every day by thousands of teachers. SpEd Forms is seeking a talented candidate with exceptional DBA skills to join our team in this newly created position.

As a SQL Database Administrator, you will oversee SpEd Forms data storage and delivery; maintain servers; and provide input to the Director of Technology. You will solve problems following established practices and procedures.

Job Requirements

What you’ll need:

– To be honest, ethical, and work with integrity at all times.
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field.
– Minimum two (2) years writing SQL and stored procedures for SQL Server and/or Azure
– Minimum two (2) years of successful experience managing a SQL Server and/or Azure server,
– Working knowledge of virtual servers.
– AWS, Powershell, JavaScript and PHP experience is a plus.
– Excellent communication skills.
– Attention to detail.
– Ongoing training in relevant technical fields (e.g., HIPAA, SQL, SQL Server, Azure and AWS).
– Ability to read programming code and identify potential points of failure.
– Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
– Excellent communication, customer service and phone etiquette skills when dealing with customers.
– Demonstrates appropriate human relations skills, judgment and discretion in dealing with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
– Ability to transport self to customer schools and other locations as necessary.
– Maintains confidentiality, adhering to FERPA and HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
– If you choose to work from home you must have a dedicated, distraction-free home office.
– Your permanent residence MUST be in South Dakota or Minnesota.
– COVID-19 vaccination required (at least one dose)

What you’ll do:

– Adhere to company procedures and policies
– Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the SpEd Forms product suite
– Function collegially with coworkers
– Ensure scheduled data backups are performed correctly.
– Document backup testing.
– Install new and updated software on all servers as necessary.
– Work with SpEd Forms customers to establish data imports and exports.
– Work with SpEd Forms customers to establish PDF file exports.
– Resolve customer support requests related to imports, exports and data retrieval.
– Maintain and manage databases including indexing, adding new tables, columns, views and stored procedures.
– Develop new reports.
– Ensures all databases are HIPAA and FERPA compliant.
– Communicate with customers in a clear, concise and professional manner, avoiding technical terminology (i.e., uses plain English).
– Identify, document, determine proper course of action and resolves customer issues. When necessary, contact customers to clarify requests, and ensure that all necessary information is obtained.
– Maintain a log of support requests including: date received, person/school making the request, routing of the request, and final disposition of the request.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $114,400/year ($55/hour).
