Job Description

Bender Midwest Properties is looking to add a Property Custodian at a large shopping center and retail mall. As the Property Custodian you will work to create a clean, orderly, and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities on the buildings and their surrounding grounds. This is position is full time with a 5am to 2pm schedule, primarily Monday through Friday with some occasional weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building and grounds
• Maintain floors in a clean state by vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, and/or mopping
• Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
• Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms
• Lock and unlock doors as needed
• Perform minor maintenance tasks on fixtures, furniture, and equipment
• Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly, including some snow removal as needed
• Oversee the maintenance of cleaning equipment
• Maintain a stocked inventory of cleaning products
• Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
• Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards
• Collaborate with other repair people and cleaning services

Job Requirements

Qualifications
– High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
– Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
– Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
– Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
– Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
– Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
– Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
– Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
– Ability to interact with staff, tenants, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous
– Must pass a background check
