Job Description

GENERAL HOURS OF WORK:  Part time – weekday evenings, Saturday afternoon, approx. 3 hour shifts

SUMMARY: Maintain the building and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition by performing all duties included in this job description and building set up and equipment list with minimal supervision.  May be asked to cover for lawn, grounds and outside building upkeep. Occasional deep cleaning duties.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or equivalent.  One to three years related experience and/or training.  Knowledge of cleaning supplies, cleaning equipment and general building upkeep a must.  Knowledge of lawn and snow removal equipment preferred.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:  Responsible for maintaining the building, grounds and equipment in a safe, clean and operating order.  Daily, weekly, monthly and as needed items, on attached lists, to be performed regularly without supervision and completed as scheduled.  Must have a great attitude and be willing to assist in all departments, co-workers and assist participants on a regular basis.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to move about and frequently reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch.  Duties would include but not limited to:  cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, cleaning floors including sweeping, mopping, and buffing, emptying trash and collecting recyclables, dusting and vacuuming, room set up including stages and sound systems, snow shoveling and snow blower usage.
  • The employee is required to sit and occasionally climb or balance.
  • Must be able to stand on a ladder to access lighting fixtures, fans, paint, etc.
  • Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, lawn mower and snow blower.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move about up to 50 pounds unassisted and regularly lift and/or move about heavy loads with appropriate assistance or equipment.  Duties include but not limited to:  lifting boxes of paper, using a 2 wheel cart, moving furniture, working on building equipment, hauling water softener salt, shoveling, picking up garbage, moving and setting up tables, moving racks of chairs and loading and unloading, general outside upkeep including mowing, grounds clean up, snow removal, painting, cleaning floors, buffing, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, setting up and taking down a stage, working with sound equipment and other duties as assigned.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


  • Must possess the required level of skills and ability to read, write, speak and apply mathematical concepts and sounds reasoning to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
  • This position requires problems solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to handle stress and stay calm in stressful situations.
